Nakhichevan City travel

Nakhchivan City is the capital of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan, located 450 km west of Baku. The municipality of Nakhchivan consists of the city of Nakhchivan and the villages of Basbasi, Qaragaliq, and Dasduz.It was an ancient trading center and some historians consider that it was founded in the 16th century BCE. According to a legend, the city was founded by Noah, and one interpretation of the meaning of the city's name is "the place of first descent", a reference to the descent from Noah's Ark. This meaning was first written down by the 5th century Armenian historian Movses Khorenatsi.
